Mischief
A ginko tree valued at approximately $950 has been cut down and removed. On Thursday August 10th 2023, St. Thomas police were called by city employees who reported that the tree had been cut and placed on a fence along the Dorothy Palmer Trail. The fencing in the area had also been cut. The area appeared to have been being used as a shelter. This remains under investigation. ST23014164
Theft & warrant arrest
A 22 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested after STPS responded to a shoplifting incident at a retail store on Talbot Street, last night. While on scene and after reviewing the available video surveillance, the 22 year old was found to be riding a bike outside of the store. Police were able to arrest the individual who was charged with one count of Theft under $5,000. While being processed at police headquarters, officers were made aware of several outstanding warrants with our service and other police services in south western Ontario. As a result, the 22 year old was released on an undertaking from STPS and then transferred to custody of the Halton Police Service. ST23014177
Theft
2 bikes have been reported stolen from the industrial area of city. On Thursday August 10th STPS were called to a factory in the area by a security officer who reported that 2 bikes had been stolen and a suspicious person had been seen on the property. Through investigation it was learned that the suspicious person had been seen on video in the loading dock area and near the main building of the factory. The suspect can be seen in this photo:
