Robbery investigation leads to an arrest

A robbery investigation that began on July 21st, 2022 has concluded with the arrest of a 29 year old male from Richmond Hill.

Kadar Atteye, has been arrested and charged in relation to the robbery that occurred at an electronics retail store on Talbot Street.

St. Thomas Police Services Criminal Investigation Branch have worked continuously over the last year to identify, locate and charge Atteye.

It is believed that 29 year old is responsible for similar incidents in Perth, Peterborough and Quebec.

On June 22nd, 2023 Kadar Atteye was charged with:

2 counts of Forcible Confinement

2 counts Robbery

1 count Trafficking Property Obtained by Crime

A robust investigation has been underway for the past year which led to the identification and charging of the suspect who chose to victimize a business in our city and flee. Atteye was returned to custody in Quebec with a St. Thomas court date of July 11th.

The St. Thomas Police Service are currently investigating a robbery that occurred at a local business where store merchandise was stolen.

On July 21st, 2022, at approximately 11:38 am, The St. Thomas Police Service received a call of an armed robbery at a business in the plaza at 1063 Talbot Street, St. Thomas, Ontario. A male suspect entered the store and threatened the staff members with a knife. The suspect left with store merchandise. No staff members were injured during this incident.

The suspect is described as young black male, tall, thin, wearing a blue surgical mask, sunglasses, white t-shirt, black shorts, black running shoes, high ankle socks and a black buffalo bills baseball hat.
