Media Release Monday June 5th 2023

Warrant

A 56 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Saturday June 2, 2023 St. Thomas police were called concerning a shirtless individual who had fallen over at a park in the city. Upon arrival, police were able to locate the individual. Through investigation police became aware of an outstanding warrant for Impaired Operation from Chatham Kent Police Service. The 56 year old was arrested and transported to police headquarters. CKPS were notified and provided release documents. ST23009459

Vehicle Entry

2 pairs of sunglasses, some change and a “little green machine” carpet cleaner has been reported stolen. On Friday June 2nd, 2023 St. Thomas Police were called to investigate a vehicle that had been entered while parked on Wellington Street. It is reported that sometime between June 1st and 7 a.m. on June 2nd the vehicle had been entered and the belongings removed. Police continue to investigate. ST23009490

Stolen Bikes

A black BMX bicycle has been reported stolen. On Saturday June 3rd, 2023 the owner of the bike contacted St. Thomas Police to report that after parking the bike on Talbot Street for approximately two minutes, they returned to find it gone. This remains under investigation. ST23009551

A black and silver EVO bicycle has been reported stolen. On Sunday June 4th, 2023 St. Thomas police were contacted by the bike owner who reports that after parking the bike outside of a shopping center on Talbot Street, they returned to find it gone. Police are reviewing available video surveillance and continue to investigate. ST2309558

A red and black dirt jumper bike has been reported stolen. On Sunday June 4th, 2023 it was reported to Police that the bike had been locked outside of a restaurant on Talbot Street between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. the night before. The bike can be seen in this photo. ST23009595

Fraud

A St. Thomas resident is out almost $23,000 after falling victim to a telephone scam. The victim was contacted by their financial institutions who were concerned after a large withdrawal of funds. It was at that time the victim realized they had been scammed. The fraud departments at both banks have been contacted and St. Thomas Police continue to investigate. ST23009561

Stunt Driving

A 21 year old London resident has been charged with one count Stunt Driving – Excessive Speed and Operate without Insurance after St. Thomas Police were conducting radar on Sunset Drive on June 3rd, 2023. The vehicle’s speed was recorded at 130 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone. The vehicle was towed and the driver issued a suspension. ST23009580

Break and Enter

Damage has been reported to a property on Gladstone Avenue. On Sunday June 4th, 2023 St. Thomas police were contacted by the owner who upon returning to the property after being away for sometime, discovered the tool shed had been entered. A lawnmower, shears and a can of paint are have been reported stolen. ST23009628
