Update – Multiple charges following a traffic stop ST23017148

St. Thomas police are sharing additional information in regard to an incident published yesterday concerning the results of a traffic stop.

As originally shared two people were arrested following a traffic stop on Tuesday September 26th, 2023. The original release can be read below.

STPS Property Crime Unit entered into the investigation on Wednesday September 27th 2023 and as a result, recovered $100,000 in stolen tools, equipment and property. Also recovered were several pieces of personal identification and bank cards reported stolen from various incidents throughout the province of Ontario and Quebec.

The property and items seen in the photos along with the U Haul seized during the arrests exceeds $100,000

39 year old, Corey McDonald was charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime x 6
  • Failure to Comply with Probation Order
  • Obtaining by False Pretense
  • Obstruct Peace Officer

40 year old Daryl Horne was charged with:

  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance (Methamphetamine)
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance (Opioid)
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance (Cocaine)
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime x 3
  • Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Failure to Comply with Probation Order x 2
  • Driving while under Suspension
  • Drive motor vehicle – no license
  • Operate unsafe vehicle

Both were remanded into custody following their court appearance on September 26th 2023. ST23017148

Multiple charges following a traffic stop

Two people are in custody following a traffic stop on Tuesday September 26th, 2023. At approximately 3:30 p.m. St. Thomas police received a call in regard to a suspicious U-Haul in the area of Wellington Street and Ross Street that was missing a large portion of its windshield. Police attended the area and were able to locate the U-Haul and its occupants, a short distance away. A traffic stop was conducted and as a result:

A 39 year old, of no fixed address has been charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime x 6
  • Failure to Comply with Probation Order
  • Obtaining by False Pretense
  • Obstruct Peace Officer

A 40 year old, of no fixed address has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance (Methamphetamine)
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance (Opioid)
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance (Cocaine)
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime x 3
  • Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Failure to Comply with Probation Order x 2
  • Driving while under Suspension
  • Drive motor vehicle – no license
  • Operate unsafe vehicle

Both parties were arrested and transported to police headquarters where they were processed and held for court. ST23017148
