Theft

St. Thomas police attended an east end business for a report of a theft. A suspect was captured on video paying for a cake mix, but not the other items that were concealed. The incident is still under investigation. ST24006541

Mischief

Police are investigating property damage to a building in the city’s west end. Sometime overnight, a window was broken. Cause of damage is still under investigation. ST24006566

Warrant arrest 

A 37 year old, St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Thursday April 25th 2024, the individual attended the station to deal with the outstanding warrant. The individual was processed at Police Headquarters and transported over to the Elgin Court House for court. ST24006583

Theft

An 18 year old, Belmont resident has been arrested. On Thursday April 25th 2024, an officer was at a local business for an unrelated matter, when they were advised of a theft that had just occurred. The individual was arrested, charged, and released with a future court date. ST24006586

Theft

A 39 year old, St. Thomas resident has been arrested for the second time in two days. On Thursday April 25th 2024, an east end business reported a theft to the St. Thomas Police. The suspect was well known to the business, and by police. The individual was charged, later arrested, and transported to Police Headquarters were they were held for a morning court appearance. Violent Apprehension

On Thursday, April 25th a concerned St. Thomas resident phoned police for help. A loved one was experiencing a mental health crisis. Police units responded to the residence and were immediately confronted by the individual wielding a large knife. De-escalation techniques were not received and conductive energy weapons were deployed. The individual was quickly apprehended and taken to Elgin General Hospital. ST24006605
