We attended a thrift store after receiving a report of a shoplifting. Through investigation, we arrested and charged a 36-year-old St. Thomas resident with theft. All of the merchandise was returned to the store and the suspect was held in custody for a court appearance. Ref# ST26008886
We are investigating a theft from a retail store located in the 1010 Talbot Street shopping center. The suspect entered the establishment and stole a bottle of vodka and left the store without making any attempt to pay for the item. We have are waiting on video to assist with the investigation. We completed two separate R.I.D.E. spot checks where approximately 350 vehicle drivers were checked for sobriety with no infractions located. Ref# ST26008919/8937
We arrested and charged a 36-year-old St. Thomas resident for assault resulting from a disturbance in a residence. No injuries were sustained as a result of the assault. The suspect was later released by police with a future court date and conditions. Ref# ST26009833

In an ongoing effort to help protect the residents of St. Thomas from falling victim to online scams and fraud, the St. Thomas Police Service would like to remind the community on ways to protect yourself and things to consider while online:
- Always get a second opinion from family or friends regarding the situation
- No employer will reach out to you through apps like Whats App or Telegram
- No employer will ever pay you in crypto currency
- No employer will ask you to invest your own money
- Use the Canadian Anti- Fraud Centre as a resource to familiarize yourself with current scams and additional ways to protect yourself
