STPS Media Release – Saturday, May 4th, 2024.

The St. Thomas Police service was contacted by a loss prevention officer regarding a shoplifter at the business park located at 1063 Talbot Street. Officers arrived on scene and attempted to arrested a person caught taking product from a business without paying. A short struggle ensued and the suspect was taken into custody. As a result, a 57-year-old Toronto resident was charged with theft not exceeding $5000, failing to comply with a probation order, and resisting arrest. This individual was bound by multiple court orders from other jurisdictions with conditions regarding previous theft charges. This suspect was held in court for a court appearance. Ref#ST24007094.

A 24-year-old London resident was arrested and charged after St. Thomas Police officers located a single motor vehicle collision at the round-about on Talbot Street at Wellington Road. The driver had crashed their vehicle into the center of the round-about almost colliding with the massive steel train sculpture. The driver was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus, novice driver B.A.C. above zero and driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available. This suspect was later released with a court date and conditions. No injuries were sustained as a result of the collision. Ref#ST24007116.
