St. Thomas Police Service media release for Saturday February 24th, 2024

On the 23rd day of February 2024 a St. Thomas resident reported being scammed by a Facebook marketplace ad.  The ad was for a washer and dryer.  The victim e-transferred $150 deposit but when they showed up at the address to retrieve the washer and dryer it was the wrong address.  This scam had also been reported in a neighboring jurisdiction.  ST24002869.

On the 23rd day of February 2024 St. Thomas Police attended a family dispute at a south end residence.  As a result of the police investigation a 68 year old St. Thomas man was arrested for assault and uttering threats.  The male was released on a future court date.  ST24002887.

Later in the evening an alert officer located a 38 year old St. Thomas man who was wanted on a probation warrant.  The male was arrested and held for court.  The male was later released by the courts.  ST24002895.

On the 24th day of February 2024 at 2:30 AM officers responded to a south end residence for a report of several males trying to gain entry to the complainant’s residence.  Officers attended and located the males fleeing the scene.  The complainant in the matter was no cooperative with officers and refused to disclose information about the incident.  Further investigation by officers resulted in a 32 year old St. Thomas man being arrested for failing to comply with his undertaking and disobeying a court order.  A 37 year old London man was also charged with breach of his weapons prohibition order.  Both males were released from custody on a future court date.  ST24002905.
