The St. Thomas Police Association is inviting local families to cast a line and make lasting summer memories at its annual Kids Fishing Derby on Thursday, July 9, 2026.
The free community event will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Lakeside Pavilion and Pinafore Pond and is open to children 16 years of age and under.
Designed to introduce young people to the outdoors while creating positive connections with local police officers, the event offers children the opportunity to enjoy a day of fishing, meet members of their police service, and spend time with family and friends in one of the city’s favourite parks.
Fishing equipment will be provided, making the event accessible for first-time anglers and experienced young fishers alike. Participants can also enjoy a free BBQ lunch, prizes and giveaways throughout the day.
The event is made possible through the generous support of the Police Association of Ontario, the Kids, Cops & Canadian Tire Fishing Days Program, and the Optimist Club of St. Thomas, whose volunteers will once again provide the BBQ lunch.
Members of the STPA will be on site throughout the day to assist participants and help make the event a memorable experience for everyone.
Families are encouraged to bring sunscreen, hats and water, and enjoy a fun-filled day at the park.
