Arson 

St. Thomas police are currently investigating an arson. In the early morning hours of Tuesday May 7th 2024, officers on community patrol were alerted to a fire behind a business on Wellington Street. Officers were able to tame the fire until the St. Thomas Fire Department arrived to fully extinguish the fire. No significant damage was reported. Police are reviewing video surveillance as they continue to investigate. ST24007296

Fraud

St. Thomas police are currently investigating an incident of fraud. On Tuesday May 7th 2024, St. Thomas police were contacted in regards fraudulent transactions being made on a debit and credit card. Through investigation, officers learned several unauthorized transactions had been made at various locations in St. Thomas and London. This remains under investigation. ST24007324

Intimate Partner Violence 

A 50 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Tuesday May 7th 2024, St. Thomas police were contacted by a victim who wish to report and argument between them and their spouse had escalated, resulting in a physical altercation. Through investigation, police formed grounds to charge a 50 year old St. Thomas resident with one count of Assault. The individual was arrested and transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an appearance notice. ST24007326

Warrant Arrests and Drug Offences 

A 44 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Tuesday May 7th 2024, officers on community patrol located the individual known to them to be wanted on an outstanding warrant with our service for Theft Under $5,000 stemming from an incident in March of 2024. The individual was arrested and the warrant processed. During the arrest, the 44 year old was found to be in possession of a quantity of suspected opioid. The individual was charged with one count Possession of a Schedule Substance – Opioid and released with a future court date. ST24007361

A 46 year old St. Thomas resident has arrested. On Wednesday May 8th 2024, officers on community patrol observed the individual operating their bike in an unsafe manner. A traffic stop was conducted and through investigation, police were made aware of an outstanding warrant with our service stemming from an incident in December of 2023 where they had been charged with Identity Theft. The 46 year old was arrested and the warrant processed. During the arrest, officers located a large quantity of drugs with a value of approximately $10,000. The individual was charged with Possession of a Schedule Substance – Opioid and released with a future court date. ST24007370

A 52 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Wednesday May 8th 2024, officers on community patrol observed the individual operating their bike in an unsafe manner. A traffic stop was conducted and through investigation police were made aware of several outstanding warrants with our service dating as far back as 2021. The individual was arrested and transported to police headquarters to be processed. While being processed officers located a quantity of drugs and the 52 year old was charged with Possession of a Schedule Substance – Opioid and released on an appearance notice with a future court date.
