Possession of stolen property 

As the result of a traffic stop in the early morning hours of Tuesday February 6th 2024, two St. Thomas residents have been arrested.  At approximately 4:30 a.m. officers on community patrol were alerted to a vehicle being driven in the city with the registered owner being prohibited from driving. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver spoken to. The driver, who was not the registered owner, was known to police to be wanted on an outstanding warrant with our service for several offences dating back to incidents in 2022. Through investigation, officers located several items of property not belonging to the driver. As a result, the 30 year old was arrested and charged with two counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. The individual was transported to police headquarters where they were processed on the outstanding warrant and the additional charges and was remanded into custody following a court appearance. A 56 year old passenger of the vehicle was charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. The individual was processed and released. ST24001825/1827

Theft

Approximately $750 in merchandise has been returned and a 46 year old Aylmer resident has been arrested. On Tuesday February 6th 2024, officers were called to a retail store on Talbot Street to investigate the report of a shoplifting incident that had just occurred. Upon arrival, police located an individual matching the description provided by employees of the retail store. The 46 year old was arrested and transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24001871

Failure to comply

A 41 year old London resident has been arrested. On Tuesday February 6th 2024, officers were called to a retail store on Wellington Street for the report of an unwanted person. Upon arrival, police located the unwanted individual and through investigation learned the 41 year old had been identified as the individual responsible for several shoplifting incidents at the retail store. As a result, the 41 year old was charged with five counts of Theft under $5,000 and Failure to Comply with Release Order. Officers transported the individual to police headquarters where they were processed and held for a morning court appearance. ST24001877

Warrant arrests 

A 56 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Tuesday February 6th 2024, officers at the Elgin County Courthouse were dealing with the individual on an unrelated matter when they became aware of an outstanding warrant for failing to comply with their appearance notice. The 56 year old was processed and released with a future court date. ST24001836

A 29 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Tuesday February 6th 2024, officers on community patrol observed a disturbance involving two parties yelling at each other. While speaking to the individuals, officers learned one of them was wanted on an outstanding warrant held by Guelph Police Service. The 29 year old was arrested and transported to police headquarters where Guelph PS provided the necessary documents for the warrant to be processed. The individual was released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24001857

A 19 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Wednesday February 7th 2024, officers were called to a disturbance at a resident on the southside of the city. Upon arrival, police located the 19 year old known to them to be wanted by our service for one count of Mischief stemming from an incident in November of 2023. The individual was arrested and transported to police headquarters where they were processed and held for a morning court appearance. ST24001895

Break and enter 

St. Thomas police are currently investigating the report of a break and enter incident. On Tuesday February 6th 2024, St. Thomas police were called in regard to a break and enter that occurred in an area of new home developments within the city. Through investigation it was learned a quantity of copper had been removed from a job site. This remains under investigation. ST24001839

Breach of probation

A 35 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Tuesday February 6th 2024, St. Thomas police were contacted by Recovery Science who reported the 35 year old, who is on conditions to remain in their residence had left. The individual was located by police and transported to police headquarters where they were processed for Failure to Comply with Probation Order and was released on an undertaking with a future court date.
