Vehicle Entries 

An apple air tag attached to a purse that was reported stolen from a vehicle in Pinafore Park on September 15th 2023, was located in an area just north of Talbot Street. On September 16th, 2023 the victim contacted police to share the location of the air tag and possibly the stolen purse. STPS attended the location of the air tagged but the purse wasn’t found. Attempted use of the personal bank cards from the stolen purse was recorded by CCTV cameras from a variety store in the area of the air tag location. This remains under investigation. A wallet has been reported stolen from a vehicle parked in the laneway of a home in a south east neighbourhood. On Tuesday September 19th 2023, STPS were called to investigate the vehicle entry that occurred sometime this morning between 3:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.  No damage to the vehicle was reported. The victim’s credit card had been used at a retail location in the city. This remains under investigation. ST23016656

Approximately $20 in change has been reported stolen from a vehicle parked at an address in the center of the city. On September 18th, 2023 STPS were called by the vehicle owner who found the suspect in their vehicle. After being confronted, the suspect, described as wearing orange/red pants with a dark shirt fled the area. ST23016665

Theft 

The hose to a commercial air compressor located at a gas station in the city has been reported cut and stolen. On Monday September 18th 2023, St. Thomas police were called by an employee who wish to report the incident. Through investigation, police were able to review video surveillance of an older white Ford F-150 pick up truck and its occupants as the suspects involved in the theft. This remains under investigation. ST23016596

A tank of gasoline as been reported stolen after being syphoned from a vehicle parked in the laneway of a home in a south east neighbourhood. On Monday September 18th 2023, STPS were contacted by the vehicle owner who reports filling the vehicle with gas the evening before. When the victim entered their vehicle the next morning, the tank had been emptied. This remains under investigation. ST23016624

Approximately $400 in merchandise including a TV, shoes and a tent have been reported stolen. On Monday September 18th 2023, St. Thomas police were called by loss prevention officers at a local retail store who wish to report the theft that occurred the day before. Through investigation and review of available video, STPS were able to identify the person responsible. At approximately 10 p.m. on September 18th the suspect was located, arrested and charged with Theft under $5000.00, Fail to Comply with Undertaking and Failure to Comply with Probation Order. The 42 year old St. Thomas resident was transported to police headquarters where they were processed and held for court. ST23016639

Approximately $800 of clothing has been reported stolen from a retail store in the city. On Monday September 18th 2023, St. Thomas police were called by store employees who wished to report an unknown person entered the store and selected multiple pairs of jeans, a hoodie and gloves. The suspect brought them to the point of sale area and once the items had been scanned and bagged by the employees, the suspected reportedly ripped the bag from the employees hands and fled the area. Mischief

3 tires on a vehicle parked at an address in the north side of the city have been reported slashed. On September 16th 2023, St. Thomas Police were contacted by the vehicle owner who wish to report that sometime between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. that morning the tires had been slashed, a total loss of approximately $2,500. Break and enter

A TV valued at $1,000 and an electronic tree measuring device has been reported stolen from the the City of St. Thomas, Parks & Recreation office in Pinafore Park. On Monday September 18th 2023, St. Thomas police were called to the park by city staff who report that sometime between the hours of 10:00 p.m. on the 17th and 7:00 a.m. on the 18th an unknown person gained entry to the office area and removed the items. This remains under investigation. ST23016601

A break and enter to home in a south east neighbourhood has been reported to police. On Monday September 18th 2023, STPS were contacted by the owner of the home on behalf of the tenant who resides there. Through investigation it was learned that on Friday September 15th, 2023 an unknown person gained entry to the locked home. Contents of the home had been rummaged through. This remains under investigation. ST23016607
