Warrant Arrest leads to additional charges
On Wednesday April 5th 2023, Officers on community patrol were dealing with an individual known to them to have several outstanding warrants with our service for an incident that had occurred in March of 2023 (ST23003761). As such, 30 year old Bryor Kiff was taken into custody and charged with:
1 count Mischief over $5,000
1 count Mischief under $5,000
1 count Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
1 count Assault with a Weapon
1 count Utter Threats
3 counts Fail to Comply with Probation Order
He was transported to Police Headquarters for processing. On search incident to arrest, STPS observed steel wiring amongst Kiff’s possessions. Through investigation, Officers were able to confirm the wiring was reported stolen from a recent break and enter in the industrial area of the city (ST23005413)
As such, Kiff was additionally charged with:
1 count Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
2 counts Fail to Comply with Probation Order
Kiff made a court appearance this morning was remanded into custody. ST23005452
Theft
On Wednesday April 5th 2023, St. Thomas Police were called to investigate a shoplifting incident that had occurred at a retail store on the south side of the city. STPS are awaiting video surveillance to identify the suspect and continue to investigation. ST23005399
Vehicle Entry
On Wednesday April 5th 2023, St. Thomas Police were called to investigate a vehicle entry at a residence near Athletic Park. It was reported that the vehicle was entered and the interior was damaged, with nothing stolen. St. Thomas Police are currently investigating if surveillance video captured a suspect. ST23005409
Warrants
On Wednesday April 5th 2023, St. Thomas Police were investigating the location of a person who’s identification had been found and turned over to Police. It was learned that the person belonging to the ID had an outstanding warrant from 2017. As such, a 60 year old St. Thomas man was taken into custody for 1 count of Assault Causing Bodily Harm. He was transported to Police Headquarters where he was processed and released by the courts. ST23005427/ST17011154
On Thursday April 6th 2023 at approximately 2:15 AM, Officers on community patrol in the downtown core, observed a male known to Police to have outstanding warrants. As such, a 33 year old St. Thomas man was taken into custody for 1 count Assault, 1 count Assault Causing Bodily Harm, 2 counts Failure to Comply with Release Order. He was transported to Police Headquarters where he was processed and released on an undertaking. ST23005478/ST23003271
Assault
On Wednesday April 5th 2023, St. Thomas Police were called to a domestic disturbance on the south side of the city. Through investigation, STPS formed grounds to charge a 42 year old St. Thomas male with 1 count Assault and 1 count Mischief. The male was located a short distance away and was taken into custody. He was transported to Police Headquarters where he was processed and released on an undertaking. ST23005473
Impaired Driver – Alcohol
On Wednesday April 5th 2023, St. Thomas Police were investigating the report of a possible impaired driver. With a quick response from Police, the vehicle in question was located and stopped. The driver failed roadside testing and was subsequently arrested and transported to Police Headquarters for further testing. As a result, a 53 year old St. Thomas man was charged with 1 count Operation while Impaired – Alcohol (80 Plus). The male was processed and released with a future court date. ST23005470
