Media release Sunday June 14th, 2026

Theft – Police were flagged down an individual in the downtown core who reported their backpack was stolen. Numerous personal belongings and cash were located inside the bag. This incident remains under investigation. (ST26010969)

Fraud -Police are investigating a fraud relating to a credit card that unknowingly obtained in the victim’s name. The suspect(s) amassed a large balance on the card during the time frame it was activated. This incident remains under investigation. (ST26010968)

Breach and obstruct – Police attended the area of 417 Wellington Street- Elgin Centre after receiving reports a theft in progress. Officers located the suspect a short distance away and attempted to stop and arrest the suspect. The suspect fled from police, as such containment was set, additional police resources were utilized, however unable to locate the suspect. The suspect has been identified by police however remains outstanding. (ST26010980)

Theft – Lost prevention called to report 2 males leaving a store located in the 1063 Talbot block with products with no attempts to pay first male left via garden centre – exited north bound white backpack, blk ballcap and tank top – stole a tent . Second male left after – blk hat, red backpack has both on camera.  Police Located a male who attempted to flee from Police.  Police located the male a short distance away and arrested on strength of several breach of probation warrants and theft under as well as obstruct police officer. The male was released on a appearance notice and Undertaking.  The second male was identified and located in the early morning hours of Sunday and held for court. (ST26010983)

Theft – Loss prevention contacted police in regards to a male who passed all points of purchase with 2 cans of motor oil concealing them inside a blue bag.  The male is described as wearing a red Puma t-shirt, gray shorts with a white cap. (ST26010990)

Warrant arrest– Police in the area of Owaissa Trail located a 16 year old male who was wanted for 2 counts of assault.  The male was placed under arrest on the strength of the warrant and was taken to the St. Thomas Police Station for processing.  The male was released with conditions and a court date.  (ST2611011)
