Theft Investigation

St. Thomas Police are investigating a shoplifting incident at a local retail store.  Police were called after a female stole a quantity of arts and crafts items before leaving the store without paying.  Officers obtained a description of the suspect, and are reviewing available CCTV footage as part of the ongoing investigation. Fraud

St. Thomas Police is investigating after a local resident reported falling victim to an investment scam.  On Saturday, police were contacted after the victim received a phone call from an individual claiming to represent an investment company.  The caller was able to provide personal information about the victim, leading them to believe the call was legitimate.  The victim followed the caller’s instructions and transferred $4000. This remains under investigation. ST26013127.

St. Thomas Police reminds the public to exercise caution when receiving unsolicited phone calls regarding investments and financial matters.

Drug Offences

A 38 year old St. Thomas man has been charged with drug-related charges following an investigation Saturday.  Police were called to a local retail store after staff reported that the male had shoplifted merchandise.  Officers located the suspect a short distance away and arrested him in connection with the theft.  During a search following his arrest, officers located a quantity of suspected crystal methamphetamine, cocaine and fentanyl.  Although the retail store did not wish to proceed with theft charges, the male was charged with 3 counts of possession of a controlled substance.  He was held in custody pending a morning court appearance.
