Theft 

St. Thomas police are currently investigating a theft that occurred from a retail store on Talbot Street on Friday November 24th 2023. Through investigation it was learned an unknown person entered the store, took an electric longboard valued at $450 and left without paying. The individual was seen getting into a light blue Jaguar, which has been reported stolen out of Woodstock. Assault/Impaired Operation

A 40 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged with one count of Assault and one count of Forcible confinement after police were called to a disturbance in the city’s south end, Sunday evening. Through investigation it was learned an altercation between parties known to each other had escalated and a physical assault had occurred. The St. Thomas resident was made aware of the charges and drove themselves to police headquarters to be processed. While being processed, the individual was showing signs of impairment. Testing concluded the individual was impaired by alcohol resulting in an additional charge of one count Operation while Impaired (80 plus). The St. Thomas resident was processed on all charges and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST23020908/ST23020913

In an ongoing effort to help protect the residents of St. Thomas from falling victim to online scams and fraud, the St. Thomas Police Service would like to remind the community on ways to protect yourself and things to consider while online:

  • Always get a second opinion from family or friends regarding the situation
  • No employer will reach out to you through apps like Whats App or Telegram
  • No employer will ever pay you in crypto currency
  • No employer will ask you to invest your own money
  • Use the Canadian Anti- Fraud Centre as a resource to familiarize yourself with current scams and additional ways to protect yourself
