Media Release Monday July 24th 2023

Wanted 

A 30 year St. Thomas resident is wanted by police. On Saturday July 22nd 2023, St. Thomas police were contacted by a GPS monitoring agency after an alert was received that the monitor had been removed from an individual currently on conditions to remain in their residence. As a result, a warrant has been requested for one count Failure to Comply with Release Order and two counts Breach of Probation. ST23012994

Failure to remain

Minor injuries have been reported after a cyclist was hit by a vehicle on Wellington street in the early morning hours of Saturday July 22nd, 2023. St. Thomas police were dispatched to the 300 block of Wellington street for the report of a collision involving a cyclist. Upon arrival, police learned the cyclist was hit from behind by a grey/silver car that failed to remain at the scene. The cyclist was transported to the hospital by EMS for further assessment. This remains under investigation. ST23012997

Theft

Two rings have been reported stolen from a housing complex on Ross Street. On Friday July 21st 2023, St. Thomas police were called to investigate the theft that occurred sometime on Wednesday July 19th while the resident was away for the day. The rings are described as 12 carat gold with a ruby stone and 12 carat gold with various coloured birth stones. This remains under investigation.  ST230112974

St. Thomas police are investigating a theft that occurred from a retail store on Talbot Street. On Sunday July 23rd 2023, police were called by loss prevention officers of the store who report that an individual entered the store and concealed several items of clothing and cosmetics before leaving the store, making no attempt to pay. Police are reviewing video surveillance to identify the individual responsible. ST23013096

Narcan Administered 

On Friday July 21st, 2023 officers on community patrol responded to an address on the south side of the city after receiving a 911 call of an unconscious individual.  Police were first on scene and administer  Narcan to the individual who then regained consciousness.  EMS arrived and transported the St. Thomas resident to the hospital as a precaution. Break and Enter

A 48 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Sunday July 23rd 2023, St. Thomas police were called to investigate a theft that had occurred after the victim reported a break and enter to their home. Through investigation it was learned that on July 22nd 2023, the victim returned home to find an individual known to them, had broken into their residence and was found in a bedroom. Damage to a screen and window was reported as well as the theft of personal jewelry. St. Thomas Police were able to identify, locate and arrest the individual who has been charged with one count Break and Enter. The 48 year old was transported to police headquarters, processed and released on an undertaking. ST23013073

St. Thomas police are currently investigating a break and enter that occurred in the industrial area of the city. On Sunday July 23rd 2023, St. Thomas police were called to an address on Gaylord Drive to investigate the report of an alarm. Upon arrival, police located a broken window where an unknown person(s) gained entry to the property, triggering the alarm. The suspect(s) had left the area prior to police arrival. This remains under investigation. ST23013102

Arrested

A 57 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Monday July 24th 2023, St. Thomas police were contacted by London Police who advised they had the 57 year old in custody on the strength of our warrant. STPS attended London where the individual was transferred to STPS custody and the outstanding warrant executed. The individual was processed and transferred to the Elgin Middlesex Detention Center.
