Warrant Arrest

This morning, Monday February 27th 2023 at approximately 4:00 AM, St. Thomas Police while investigating an unrelated incident, located a 43 year old St. Thomas man know to be wanted on the strength of an OPP Warrant for Theft under $5,000. The man was arrested without incident and transferred to OPP custody.  ST23003123

Stolen Vehicle / Arson 

Just after 1:00 AM this morning, Monday February 27th 2023 St. Thomas Police along with the St. Thomas Fire Department attended an address on Hiawatha Street after reports of a car explosion. Once on scene, the fire was quickly extinguished and through investigation it was learned the vehicle had been stolen from an address in Elgin County. St. Thomas Police are reviewing video surveillance from the area. This incident remains under investigation. ST23003109

Mischief / Threats 

On Sunday February 26th 2023, St. Thomas Police arrested a 43 year old St. Thomas man with Mischief and 1 count Uttering Threat – Bodily Harm. These charges come after STPS were called to an address to take the report of an argument that occurred within a shared residence. The man was taken into custody without incident and transported to Police Headquarters for processing.  He was later released on an Undertaking with conditions. ST23003087

Theft of Rats

On Sunday February 26th 2023, St. Thomas Police were called in regard to the theft of rats that had a occurred. A local resident had made a post on a popular buy/sell site and made arrangements with a buyer to pick up the rats he had posted for sale. The buyer attended the residence, took the rats but didn’t not pay. STPS is continuing to investigate. ST23003084

Assault

On Sunday February 26th 2023, a 31 year old St. Thomas man attended Police Headquarters to report an assault that had occurred at downtown establishment the night before. The male reports he had step outside to have a cigarette when he was assaulted by 3 male parties. After reviewing on site video, STPS were able to identify the parties involved and they have subsequently be charged with Assault. ST23003078

Break and Enter

On Saturday February 25th 2023, St. Thomas Police were called to business in the downtown core after a break and enter had occurred. It was reported that the glass on the front door of the business had been kicked until broken in order to gain access. After reviewing the cameras, 2 suspects can been seen stealing lottery tickets and cigarettes before leaving on foot. St. Thomas Police are continuing to investigate. Found Property

On Friday February 24th 2023, St. Thomas Police were called by an alert citizen on the west end of Talbot Street who had located what he believed to be stolen property. Found was a tool box with a yellow saw, a sander, a nail gun, a rusted dolly and an air compressor.
