Fraud 

A St. Thomas resident is out nearly $15,000 after falling victim to a scam. On Friday February 23rd 2024, the victim reported they were contacted by someone claiming to be from Amazon, informing them that their account had been compromised and it was being passed on to the RCMP for further investigation. The victim then received a call from someone claiming to be from the RCMP and after a series of conversations and transactions, the victim is at a loss of $15,000. STPS Criminal Investigation Branch are continuing to investigate. ST24002897

Warrant arrests 

A 28 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Saturday February 24th 2024, officers were called to investigate the report of a suspicious individual attempting to enter vehicles in the 400 block of Talbot Street. Upon arrival, police located the 28 year old known to them to be wanted by our service on an outstanding warrant for Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Fraud under $5000, Use of Credit Card and Failure to Comply with Probation after being identified as the person responsible for a vehicle entry that occurred on February 14th 2024. The individual was arrested and transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24002904

A 29 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Saturday February 24th 2024, while on an unrelated call for service officers located an individual known to them to be in breach of their current release conditions. The 29 year old was arrested and transported to police headquarters where they were charged with Failure to Comply with Probation Order, processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. A 17 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Sunday February 25th 2024, the individual attended police headquarters to turn themselves in on an outstanding warrant with our service for Assault after an incident in December of 2023. The youth was processed on the charge and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24002964

A 29 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Sunday February 25th 2024, officers were called to investigate the report of a suspicious vehicle in the 200 block of Talbot Street. Police attended the area and located the vehicle in question which was occupied by an individual known to police to be wanted on an outstanding warrant with our service for Theft under $5,000 after being identified as the person responsible in a shoplifting incident in January. The individual was processed and released with a future court date. ST24002971

A 50 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Sunday February 25th 2024, officers were called to the 400 block of Talbot Street to check on the wellbeing of an unknown individual who had fallen. Upon arrival, police located the individual who was intoxicated and had sustained minor injuries. The 50 year old was transported to police headquarters where they were issued a Provincial Offence Notice for public intoxication and held until sober. ST24002951

Assault

A 20 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Saturday February 24th 2024, the individual attended police headquarters to turn themselves in on outstanding charges for Assault, Mischief and Failure to Comply with Probation Order after officers were called to investigate the report of damage to vehicle. Through investigation, police learned an incident between two individuals known to each other had resulted in the victims car being damaged and the individual being assaulted when they attempted to retrieve their car. The 20 year old was processed on the charges and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24002906

A 36 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Sunday February 25th 2024, STPS were called to an address on the southside of the city to investigate the report of an assault that had occurred between two individuals known to each other. Through investigation, police learned a verbal argument between the two had turned physical. The 36 year old was charged with one count of Assault and transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24002962

A 31 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Sunday February 25th 2024, STPS were called to an address on the southside of the city to investigate the report of a domestic disturbance in progress. Upon arrival, police located the parties involved and through investigation formed grounds to charged the 31 year old with one count of Assault. Further investigation led to the individual being additionally charged with Breach of Recognizance after learning they were on conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. The individual was arrested and transported to police headquarters where they were processed and held for a morning court appearance. ST24002963

RIDE

Approximately 310 vehicles were stopped and their drivers spoken to during a ride program in the city last night with no infractions found. ST24002974
