Media Release Monday February 13th 2023

Break and Enter

St. Thomas Police are investigating a break and enter in the north end of the City that occurred sometime in the overnight hours of February 12th, 2023. Unknown suspect(s) entered a detached garage of a home, stealing a florescent yellow Suzuki RMZ 250 dirt bike valued at $15,000 (pictured). Shoplifting 

On Friday, February 10th 2023, shortly after 6:00 PM the St. Thomas Police were called to attend a local business to investigate a shoplifting incident. City Police were informed that a male party entered the store and placed several items into a shopping basket then into a backpack. The male paid for some items but failed to pay for the items he had concealed. The male is described as mid-20’s, with a scruffy beard, wearing a black coat and grey sweatpants with a black backpack. On Sunday, February 12th 2023 at approximately 4:00 PM Officers on Community Patrol were called to local business by an alert employee to report a theft that had occurred earlier that afternoon. Stolen was an Irwin brand vise-grip clamp, valued at $41.99. The suspect is described as a male between the age of 25-30, approximately 6′ 3″ – 6′ 4″ in height with scruffy facial wearing a grey baseball hat, grey Under Armour hoodie with a black unzipped jacket and dark pants. On Sunday, February 12th 2023,  a 43 year old male was arrested without incident after Officers on Community Patrol were called to attended a local business for shoplifting. The male party was observed entering the store, proceeding to the hardware section where he grabbed a Portable Power Station valued at $197.00. He then exited the rear of the store with the security tags still attached.  St. Thomas Police located the involved party a short distance away where he was arrested and charged with Theft under $5,000. He was transported to the Colin McGregor Building for processing. ST23002348

Assaults

On Sunday February 12th 2023, Officers on Community Patrol were called to an address in the south end of the City regarding an assault.  Further investigation revealed that an employee was assaulted. As such, 32 year old Lisa Bradford has been charged with Assault. She was processed and released with a future court date. ST23002356

On Sunday February 12th 2023, St. Thomas Police attended a north end address in relation to an allegation of assault that had taken place earlier in the afternoon. Investigation revealed one male party was assaulted by another male party and as such, an arrest warrant has been issued for a 63 year old St. Thomas male. ST23002338

Recovered Motor Vehicle 

In the early morning hours of Sunday February 12th 2023,  a 2016 Grey Toyota Yaris was recovered by Officers on Community Patrol after their Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR) alerted to a possible stolen vehicle parked at an address in the north end of the city. The vehicle was reported stolen from London on January 13, 2023.  The vehicle was seized by Police who continue to investigate.  ST23002358
