Vehicle entries 

A set of keys has been reported stolen from a vehicle parked on Horton Street. On Thursday December 7th 2023, officers were called by the vehicle owner who wished to report their vehicle had been entered and a set of work keys, taken. No damage to the vehicle was reported. ST23021554

A pair of designer sunglasses has been reported stolen from a vehicle parked on Metcalfe Street. On Thursday December 7th 2023, officers were called by the vehicle owner who wished to report their vehicle had been entered and the sunglasses, taken. No damage to the vehicle was reported. ST23021555

Warrant Arrests

A 39 year old Aylmer resident has been arrested. On Thursday December 7th 2023, officers on community patrol located the individual known to them to be wanted on an outstanding warrant with Oxford OPP. The individual was arrested and transferred to Oxford OPP for processing. ST23021571

A 44 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Friday December 8th 2023, officers were called to investigate the report of a suspicious person. Upon arrival, officers located an individual known to them to wanted an several outstanding warrants with our service for Assault, Theft under $5,000, Failure to Comply with Release Order and Assault Peace Officer, stemming from incidents earlier this year. The 44 year old was arrested and transported to police headquarters where they were processed on their charges and released on an appearance notice. ST23021642

A 17 year old St. Thomas resident is wanted by police. On Sunday December 10th 2023, STPS were notified that the youth was breaching their release conditions given by the courts after being released on Saturday December 9th. As a result, the 17 year old has been charged with two counts Failure to Comply with Sentence and Failure to Comply with Release Order. ST23021665

A 30 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Sunday December 10th 2023, officers on community patrol were dealing with the individual on an unrelated matter when they became aware of an outstanding warrants with our service for one count of Assault and three counts of Theft under $5000 stemming from incidents earlier this year. The 30 year old was transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released, conditionally. ST23021723

Mischief

Damage to a vehicle has been reported to police. On Saturday December 9th 2023, officers were called by a vehicle owner who reported that 5 inches of their muffler had been cut off. The vehicle was parked at a Talbot Street address when the mischief occurred. This remains under investigation. ST23021607

A 15 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Sunday December 10th, officers were called by a vehicle owner who reports a person known to them had just broken the rear window of their vehicle with a large rock. Upon arrival, police located the individual responsible and placed them under arrested. The 15 year old was charged with one count of Mischief, transported to police headquarters and held for morning court. ST23021743

Stolen Vehicle/Dangerous Operation 

A 25 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested and charged with several offences after police were called to investigate the report of a stolen vehicle. Officers located the vehicle driving erratically throughout city.  The vehicle eventually entered the St. Thomas airport and officers were able to arrest the driver. As a result, the 25 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged with Theft of a Motor Vehicle under $5000 and Dangerous Operation. The individual was transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an undertaking. ST23021636

RIDE

A RIDE check set up in the early morning hours of Sunday December 10th, 2023 found no infractions and all drivers spoken to, were sober.ST23021706

Impaired Operation

A 53 year old Aylmer resident has been arrested. On Sunday December 10th, STPS were assisting Aylmer Police with the investigation of an impaired driver. St. Thomas officers attended and located the driver in question. Officers learned the 53 year old had driven their vehicle to the location police attended and that they were bound by conditions to have a zero blood concentration, stemming from an incident where they were previously charged with impaired driving. As a result, the 53 year old was charged with Operation while Impaired and Failure to Comply with Probation Order. Additionally, the individual was charged with Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand. The 53 year old was transported to St. Thomas police headquarters, processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST23021757

Protecting yourself from fraud

In an ongoing effort to help protect the residents of St. Thomas from falling victim to online scams and fraud, the St. Thomas Police Service would like to remind the community on ways to protect yourself and things to consider while online:

  • Always get a second opinion from family or friends regarding the situation
  • No employer will reach out to you through apps like Whats App or Telegram
  • No employer will ever pay you in crypto currency
  • No employer will ask you to invest your own money
  • Use the Canadian Anti- Fraud Centre as a resource to familiarize yourself with current scams and additional ways to protect yourself
