Break and Enter

Sometime in the early morning hours of February 1st, 2023, a homeowner on St Catharine Street was the victim of a break and enter.  The suspect(s) cut a lock that was securing 3 bikes together and stole the bikes.  The bikes are described as a brown Norco mountain bike, a single speed red Rambler with oversized wheels and a black CCM mountain bike with 20″ wheels.  The suspect(s) also entered a garage on the property and stole a 50′ roll of 1/2 inch copper tubing, a Yardworks chainsaw and a Mastercraft battery booster pack.  Officers are canvasing the area for video surveillance cameras in attempts to identify the person(s) responsible.  *1737

Theft/ Drugs/ Warrant

A 28 year-old woman remains in custody awaiting a court appearance today after she was arrested shortly after 8pm on February 1st for shoplifting at Walmart.  The woman was observed by loss prevention concealing items in a bag and leaving the store without making any attempt to pay for these items.  The St Thomas Police were contacted and located the woman nearby.  She was arrested for theft under $5000 and at the time of arrest it was also discovered that she was in possession of identification that did not belong to her as well as a small quantity of crystal meth and purple fentanyl. She was additionally charged with possession of stolen property under $5000 and possession of a controlled substance x 2.  The woman also had two outstanding warrants.  One was for theft under $5000 and the other was for Failing to Comply with a Release Order.  * 1743/ 1744
