Media release – 7th of October 2023

Mischief and armed robbery:

On Friday evening Police were notified of a physical disturbance in the downtown core. On arrival Police learned that 21 year old St Thomas resident Joshua Beattie had allegedly robbed a downtown business using a syringe as a weapon to threaten staff. Beattie had been followed by store staff and other members of the community where he was arrested by Police. Incident ST23017845. 

A second call for service was received around the same time of a male that had a smashed a window at a building downtown. Through investigation it was determined that Beattie was the male party involved. Incident ST23017383.

Beattie was transported to the station and held for weekend video court charged with robbery, mischief and possession of a controlled substance. Warrant arrests:

On Friday the 6th of October officers on general patrol observed a 31 year old female that was known to have several warrants for her arrest. The female was arrested and transported to St Thomas Police Service headquarters and held for court – later remanded into custody by the courts. Incident ST23017810.

On the evening of the 6th of October Police were called to a west end residence for reports of a domestic disturbance in progress. Through investigation it was learned that a 45 year old involved male had outstanding warrants for his arrest. The male was arrested and transported to the station where he was later released on an Undertaking. Incident ST23017836. An investigation is still ongoing to issues surrounding the disturbance.

On the evening of the 6th of October a male youth turned himself in at the St Thomas Police Service headquarters related to a fight that had occurred at a local school. The male was released on an undertaking with conditions. Incident ST23017849.

In the early morning hours of the 7th of October 2023 London Police Service arrested a 38 year old male that had outstanding warrants held by St Thomas Police Service. The male was later released with a new court date. Incident ST23017855
