Media release 2nd of June 2024

Bail Violations:

On Saturday the 1st of June 2024 the St Thomas Police Service was called to a north end residence for reports of a male that had breached his conditions. Police learned that a 25 year old male had attended the address when he was on previous release conditions not to do so. A warrant is current being sought for the St Thomas resident’s arrest. Incident ST24009071.

Warrant Arrest:

On Saturday the 1st of June officers on general patrol recognized a male party as being wanted on a warrant held by our service. The 35-year-old male was arrested on the strength of the warrant and held for court. The male was later released by the courts . Incident ST24009081.

Domestic disputes:

On Saturday Police were called to a south end residence for reports of a domestic disturbance. Through investigation it was learned that a 35-year-old female had damaged some property at the residence belonging to her partner. The female was arrested and later released with a future court date and conditions. Incident ST24009082.

On Saturday afternoon Police were called to a north end residence for a domestic dispute in progress. Police attended and learned that a 32-year-old male had assaulted his partner and damaged property in the home. The male was also breaching conditions of an existing probation order and wanted on warrants held by St Thomas Police and Aylmer Police. The male was arrested, charged with assault, mischief and fail to comply with probation x2 and held for weekend video court. Incident ST24009093.

Arson/Warrant:

On Saturday afternoon emergency services were contacted to attend the area of St. Catharine Street for a hydro pole that had been intentionally set on fire. Police and Fire attended and the fire was extinguished. Through investigation a 42-year-old male, who recently moved to the city, was identified as the suspect and arrested on reasonable grounds – charged with arson. It was further discovered that the male was wanted on a warrant held by Perth County OPP. The male was also arrested on the warrant. He was later released on future court dates for both matters. Impaired operation:

In the early morning hours on Sunday the 2nd of June the St Thomas Police Service was contacted by an alert citizen regarding a possible impaired driver in the south west of the city. Police attended and located the vehicle in gear in a left-hand turning lane -with the driver asleep behind the wheel. The male performed poorly on a standard field sobriety test and was arrested for impaired operation. The male later provided breath samples at the station that were over the legal limit. The male was released with a future court date, charged impaired operation and operate conveyance with blood alcohol concentration in excess of 80mgs. Incident ST24009126.
