A St. Thomas police officer has sustained minor injuries as the result of a call for service.
On Monday January 22nd 2024, officers were called to an address on the Southside of the city for a disturbance. STPS arrived to an escalating family dispute that had turned physical. Through investigation, police formed grounds to charge the parties involved. While making the arrest of one of the individuals, an officer was assaulted and injured as the accused actively resisted police.
The officer was transported to hospital to be treated for their injuries and has been released.
As a result of the disturbance, 3 individuals have been charged.
A 25 year old Woodbridge resident has been charged with once count of Assault. The individual was transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date.
A 56 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged with one count of Assault with a Weapon. The individual was transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date.
A 34 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged with one count of Assault, one count of Resist Peace Officer and one count Assault Peace Officer. The individual was transported to police headquarters where they were processed and held from a morning court appearance.
