Stabbing Investigation – Suspect Arrested (5/5)

54 year old, Jeff Church has been arrested in relation to the stabbing investigation that began in the early morning hours of February 17th. Church attended police headquarters to turn himself in on an outstanding warrant for Aggravated Assault and Assault with a Weapon . Church is being held in custody on the charges pending a morning court appearance. ST24002489

Stabbing Investigation – Suspect Identified (4/5)

St. Thomas police have identified a suspect in an ongoing stabbing investigation that began just after midnight Saturday morning.

At 12:00 a.m. STPS responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a disturbance in the area of Scott Street and Hamilton Street. Upon arrival, police learned an altercation had occurred between two individuals known to each other. The victim had been transported to the hospital with multiple stab wounds prior to police arrival.

54 year old, Jeff Church of St. Thomas is wanted by police for Aggravated Assault and Assault with a Weapon.

St. Thomas police are asking for anyone with information in regards to the whereabout of Jeff Church, contact police at 519-631-1224 or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers 

There is no threat to public safety at this time but police are asking the public to not approach the suspect and to call police, immediately.

Stabbing Investigation – Ongoing (3/5)

One person is in hospital with serious but non life threating injuries after being stabbed during an altercation on Scott Street at approximately 12 a.m. this morning.

St. Thomas police responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a disturbance in the area of Scott Street and Hamilton Street. Upon arrival, police learned an altercation had occurred between two individuals known to each other. Through investigation, officers learned the victim had been driven to the hospital and was no longer in the area.

The area of Scott Street and Hamilton Street was held and secured by police as an investigation into the disturbance began.

STPS attended the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital where it was learned the victim was currently being treated for multiple stab wounds.

The area of Scott Street and Hamilton Street have since been reopened as police continue to investigate.

St. Thomas Police are asking the public to avoid the area of Scott Street and Hamilton Street, as there is an active investigation on going.  At this time there is no risk to public safety, but the public is asked to avoid the area so a crime scene may be processed and investigated thoroughly.
