A busy four days for the St. Thomas Police Service, responding to nearly 250 calls for service over the last long weekend of summer.
Sexual Assault / Dangerous Operation
Two St. Thomas men have been arrested following an investigation on Monday. STPS attended a downtown parking lot for the initial report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle. Through investigation, officers learned the victim was escaping from the vehicle after being sexually assaulted. Sustaining minor injury, the victim was transported to the hospital for treatment. A review of the CCTV in the area assisted officers in identifying and locating the individuals responsible.
A 21 year old St. Thomas man and an 18 year old St. Thomas man were arrested Monday evening.
Both men have been charged with:
- Sexual Assault
- Forcible Confinement
- Communication for Sexual Purpose
The 21 year old was additionally charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
Once processed at police headquarters, they were held to attend court on Tuesday morning. ST26017256/7296
Intimate Partner Violence – Youth Charged
A 16 year old has been charged following an investigation into threats and unwanted communication. On Sunday, police were made of aware of the incident involving another teen. Through investigation officers learned of several threats to cause harm made through a social media app. Charged with one count of Uttering Threats, the OPP assisted our members in the arrest of the accused. Once processed, the teen was released on an undertaking with a future date to attend court. ST26017182
Youth Charged Following Disturbance
On Monday night, police responded to a disturbance at west end address. Through investigation, police learned that an argument had escalated into a physical altercation. During the incident, a youth allegedly assaulted an individual, made threats and threw items, striking two people. Upon police arrival, the youth had left the area but was located nearby.
Charged with:
- Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
- Two counts of assault with a weapon
- Mischief under $5,000
The 16 year old was transported to police headquarters, processed and later released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST26017306
Impaired – Dangerous Operation
Early Tuesday morning, an officer conducting speed enforcement on Talbot Street near Woodland Road observed a vehicle travelling 111 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone.
