Fraud
A St. Thomas resident has lost over $250.00 after following victim to a Facebook scam. The resident messaged a fan page dedicated to the television show “THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS” and initiated a conversation with an individual claiming to be Nick NEWMAN from the show. During the message exchange, she was solicited into sending various amounts to this party in the form of apple gift cards before being alerted by a store employee to the scam. ST26003485
A St. Thomas resident was wishing to report receiving several suspicious email links leading to her email, bank account, and social media being compromised. Approximately $3000.00 was removed fraudulently from her bank account. The matter remains under investigation. ST26003495
Theft
STPS are investigating the theft of both front and rear licence plates that were stolen from a motor vehicle in the downtown core sometime over the last several months. ST26003517
Police attended a retail store in the 1063 Talbot Street block and arrested a 30 year old male who had shoplifted numerous items from the store. The property was recovered and the male was charged with Theft Under $5000.00. He was released on an Appearance Notice with a future court date. ST26003518
Intimate Partner Violence/Warrant Arrest
Police were contacted by a concerned citizen reporting a verbal argument between a 31 year old female and her boyfriend, a 35 year old male. Through investigation, Police learned that the female was wanted on a warrant held by STPS and was bound by conditions not to communicate with the male. The female was arrested and charged with Fail to Comply with Undertaking and released on an Appearance Notice with a future court date. ST26003499/3501
AssaultĀ
Police were contacted by a 25 year old male who reports a pop can had been thrown at him by an unknown male in the downtown core after he refused to allow him entry to his apartment building. Police located a 44 year old St. Thomas man and arrested him for one count of Assault with a Weapon. He was later released on an Undertaking. ST26003513
Bail violations
Police attended a retail store in the 1063 Talbot Street block and arrested a 33 year old female who was breaching the conditions of her Undertaking by being at the store. The female was released on an Appearance Notice with a future court date. ST26003519
Four Impaired Driving Arrests
Police received a tip regarding a possible impaired driver that was observed swerving between lanes on Sunset Drive. Police located the driver, a 25 year old female from the City of London. A roadside screening device was administered resulting in a failed reading. The accused was arrested and transported to police headquarters where additional breath samples read 130mgs and 140mgs of alcohol in 100ml of blood. The female was charged with Impaired Operation – 80 plus and released on an Appearance Notice with a future court date. ST26003521
While on general patrol Police observed a vehicle driving at a low rate of speed and braking abruptly on Talbot Street. A traffic stop was conducted with a 46 year old male driver. A roadside screening device was administered resulting in a failed reading. The accused was arrested and transported to police headquarters where additional breath samples read 120mgs and 100mgs of alcohol in 100ml of blood. The male was charged with both Impaired Operation and Impaired Operation – 80 plus and released on an Appearance Notice with a future court date. ST26003526
Police received a tip regarding a possible impaired driver that was observed on Talbot Street. Police located the vehicle and observed as it struck the curb before coming to rest on the boulevard. Police spoke with the driver, an 18 year old male from the City of St. Thomas. A roadside screening device was administered resulting in a failed reading. The accused was arrested and transported to police headquarters where additional breath samples read 80mgs and 80mgs of alcohol in 100ml of blood. Police located the vehicle and spoke with the driver, a 29 year old female driver from the City of St. Thomas. A roadside screening device was administered resulting in a failed reading. The accused was arrested and transported to police headquarters where additional breath samples read 190mgs and 190mgs of alcohol in 100ml of blood.
