74 calls for service in the City of St. Thomas on Monday

Assault

A 37 year old St. Thomas woman has been arrested following the report of an unwanted person. On Monday afternoon, police were called to an address on Princess Avenue for the report of the individual refusing to leave. Upon arrival, officers were made aware of an assault that had occurred prior to the call for service. The accused, charged with one count of Assault was transported to police headquarters where she was processed and held for a morning court appearance. ST26001810

Intimate Partner Violence – Assault Cause Bodily Harm 

A 28 year old St. Thomas woman has been charged in relation to an incident in the city, last night. Just before 10:30 p.m. a concerned citizen called police seeking assistance for an individual who appeared to be injured. The caller was concerned for their well-being due to the time of night and the temperature. Officers located the individual who was showing physical signs of being assaulted. Through investigation, it was learned the victim had been assaulted by their spouse and had left the address in just shorts and a t-shirt. As a result, police have charged the 28 year old accused with one count of Assault Cause Bodily Harm and one count of Failure to Comply with Probation. A warrant for her arrest has been requested. Warrant Arrests 

A 49 year old St. Thomas woman has been arrested. On Monday, while on an unrelated call for service, officers located the individual known to them to be wanted for Assault stemming from an incident in March of last year. She was transported to police headquarters, processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST26001784/25004370

A 30 year old St. Thomas woman has been arrested. On Monday, the individual contacted police in regards to an outstanding warrant for her arrest. She had been charged with Assault, Assault with a Weapon and Assault Cause Bodily Harm following an incident last week. Police attended and took custody of the accused. She was transported to police headquarters, processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST26001801/26001585

Theft 

A 37 year old St. Thomas woman has been arrested. On Monday, the accused was located and taken into custody after being identified as the person responsible in a theft investigation that began on January 31st. The individual was transported to police headquarters, processed to attend court and was remanded into custody. ST26001783

Suspended Driver 

A 43 year old St. Thomas man has been arrested. During a traffic stop on Monday evening, officers spoke with the driver of the vehicle who identified himself as the accused. Through investigation officers learned the driver is currently prohibited from driving due to an active license suspension. Additionally, it was learned there was an outstanding warrant for his arrested held by Elgin OPP. The 43 year old was arrested and transported to the Elgin OPP detachment for processing. ST26001843

RIDE 

Officers on general patrol conducted an in-service RIDE program in the city last night. Five drivers, asked to provide breath samples, all resulted in a PASS. Two warnings were issued under Highway Traffic Act. The STPS thanks the community for continuing to drive safe and sober. ST26001844

Counterfeit Currency 

On Monday evening, police were notified by a local business that a customer was using a bill that was believed to be counterfeit while paying cash for their order. Officers attended and confirmed the bill to be counterfeit. The customer remained in the store and was unaware of the fraudulent bill. The St. Thomas Police Service is reminding community members and businesses to remain vigilant when accepting cash. Counterfeit bills may appear genuine at first glance but often lack standard security features such as raised ink, clear printing, and embedded security elements.

If you believe you have received counterfeit currency, do not return it to circulation. Please contact the St. Thomas Police Service to report the incident so the bill can be examined and the circumstances documented.
