Counterfeit Currency

Police are currently investigating the report of counterfeit money being used at a local retail store. On Wednesday, police were called to a retail store on Elm Street for the report of cash used to purchase items possibly being counterfeit. Officers were provided the money used along with video on the individual who used it. This remains under investigation. ST25020755

Warrant Arrests

A 55 year old St. Thomas man has been arrested. On Wednesday, we were contacted by the Elgin OPP who had the individual in custody on the strength of our outstanding warrant. The accused had been charged with Failure to Comply with Probation in October 2024. He was transported to police headquarters in St. Thomas, processed and released on appearance notice with a future court date. ST25020746

A 31 year old St. Thomas woman has been arrested. On Wednesday, the individual attended police headquarters to turn herself in on an outstanding warrant for Mischief after she was charged following an investigation in October.  She was processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. A 28 year old St. Thomas woman has been arrested. On Wednesday, officers were called to an address on the southside of the city for the report of an unwanted person. Upon arrival, the 28 year old known to be wanted by our service for Assault, Failure to Comply with Probation Order, Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl and Methamphetamine and two counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime was located and arrested. She was processed to attend court and was remanded into custody. ST25020752/11318

Fraud

A local resident is out close to $700 after falling victim to an online scam. On Wednesday, the individual contacted police to report that after sending money to the seller of concert tickets on Facebook Marketplace, the tickets were never received and communication with the seller had stopped. This remains under investigation. ST25020768

Theft

Police are seeking assistance in identifying the individual in the photos below. The man seen in the photos is responsible for separate shoplifting incidents from the same retail store on Talbot Street on Wednesday.
