CRIME PREVENTION WEEK 2025 – Hate/Bias Crime & Community Inclusion

St. Thomas, ON Friday November 7th, 2025

The St. Thomas Police Service (STPS) continues its participation in Crime Prevention Week 2025 by focusing on community inclusion and the prevention of hate and bias motivated offences. Ensuring every resident can live, work and study in a safe and inclusive community is a shared responsibility.

The Chief of Police – Community Inclusion Council (CIC) provides direct advice to the Chief of Police and STPS leadership. The Council’s mission is aiming to understand, appreciate, recognize and respond with informed strategies and approaches to the pluralistic, multi-racial, multi-cultural and ever-changing demographics in St. Thomas, with respect to religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity and celebrations.

Under the advisory of the Community Inclusion Council, the STPS remains committed to making sure all residents feel seen, heard and safe.

STPS encourages residents to:

  • Be aware of the signs of hate or bias‑motivated behaviour.
  • Report incidents to the St. Thomas police,
  • Work with local organizations, community leaders and the police service to promote inclusion, respect and understanding.
