Break and Enter Investigations
The St. Thomas Police Service is investigating a break and enter that occurred at a property on Sunset Drive on the evening of October 21st, 2025. CCTV captured two suspects entered a detached shop on the property and attempt to steal a pickup truck. The suspects caused significant damage to the vehicle’s ignition system before fleeing with two off-road bikes, both of which were later recovered nearby by police. The investigation remains ongoing, and police are working to identify the individuals responsible. ST25019432
A blue Trek bicycle and a blue Giant bicycle have been reported stolen from an address on Chestnut Street. On Wednesday, police were called to the address after a camera on the property captured an unknown individual enter the backyard. After reviewing the video, the homeowner went to the backyard and found the garage had been entered and the bikes stolen. This remains under investigation. ST25019460
A King Canada 5100W Generator valued at $600 has been reported stolen from an address on Forest Avenue. On Wednesday, officers attended the address and spoke with the home owner who advised the generator had been stolen from the detached garage. This remains under investigation. ST25019473
Warrant Arrests
A 50 year old St. Thomas man has been arrested. On Wednesday morning, the individual attended police headquarters on an unrelated matter when officers were made aware of an outstanding warrant for arrest. The accused had been charged with three counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order and one count of Failure to Comply with Undertaking stemming from an unwanted communication investigation from September. The 50 year old was taken into custody, processed and later released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST25019438/17624
A 46 year old St. Thomas woman has been arrested. On Wednesday, officers at the Elgin County Courthouse were dealing with the individual on an unrelated matter when they became aware of an outstanding warrant for arrest. The accused had been charged with two counts of Failure to Comply with Release Order after attending an address she is currently on conditions to not attend. The 46 year old was processed to attend court and was later released with a future court date. ST25019446
Fraud Investigation
A local resident is out approximately $20,000 after falling victim to a crypto investment scam. On Wednesday, the individual attended police headquarters to report that over the last two months, several transactions were made to an overseas investment company. When attempting to close the investment account and retain the funds the victim was instructed to transfer additional funds in order gain access to the account. The victim became suspicious and contacted police. This remains under investigation. ST25019442
Theft
An e bike has been reported stolen from an address on Curtis Street. On Wednesday afternoon, police were called to investigate the report of the bike being stolen while the owner attended a business in the area. CCTV of the incident is available and being provided to police. ST25019470
Several grocery items have been reported stolen from a grocery store on Talbot Street. On Wednesday night, officers were called to the store to investigate the report of an unknown person failing to pay for their items. Video is available and being provided to police. ST25019484
Bail Violations
A 48 year old St. Thomas man has been arrested. On Wednesday afternoon, officers on community patrol observed the individual to be walking downtown with a person they are currently on release conditions to not associate with or be in the presence of. The 48 year old was charged with two counts of Failure to Comply with Release Order and transported to police headquarters where he was processed to attend court and remanded into custody. ST25019458
Recovered Stolen Vehicle
A vehicle, stolen from an address on Manor Road has been recovered. Last night, we were contacted by Elgin OPP who reported finding the vehicle, engulfed in flames at an address in their jurisdiction. The owner of the vehicle was contacted, unaware the vehicle had been stolen. This remains under investigation. ST25019488/9493
