Arson Investigation
A fire that occurred at the back of an address on Talbot Street Monday afternoon has been deemed suspicious. Just before 3:00 p.m. several 911 calls alerted police to a fire in the 300 block of Talbot Street. Upon arrival, officers assisted St. Thomas Fire with road closures as they safely extinguished the fire that appeared to have been isolated to a small structure containing an electric wheel chair. No injuries were reported. CCTV in the area is available and being provided to police. This remains under investigation. ST25018323
Sexual Assault
A 20 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. This morning, the individual attended police headquarters to turn themselves in after being charged with Sexual Interference and Sexual Assault on a Person Under 16, following a sexual assault investigation. Break and Enter
St. Thomas police are currently investigating an industrial break and enter. On Monday morning, we were called to an area under construction on the east end of the city after employees arrived to work and found entry had been gained to a secured, fenced compound at some point over the weekend. It was reported that two holes had been cut in the fence surrounding the area allowing access to storage containers on the property. The locks had been cut and the material inside had been removed. Copper connectors and a significant amount of copper wire had been stolen. CCTV in the area is available and being reviewed as we continue to investigate. ST25018293
Fraud Investigation
St. Thomas police are currently investigation a romance scam. On Monday, a concerned bank employee contacted police to report several unusual transactions. It was reported that a client of the bank had started to take large sums of money out of their accounts to send to an individual they had met online. Bank staff flagged the transactions and contacted police to report the possible scam and protect their client. This remains under investigation. ST25018302
Mischief
A vehicle parked at an address on Flora Street has been reported damaged. On Monday, police attended the address to investigate the report of the vehicle being keyed while parked in the area on Friday afternoon. ST25018105
A window at an address on Alma Street has been reported damaged. On Monday afternoon, police were called to the area to investigate the report of a smashed window. Upon arrival, officers observed a window that had smashed with an unknown object. No injuries were reported. ST25018335
Theft
$2,000 of property has been reported stolen from an address on Confederation Drive. On Monday, police were called to the area to investigate a theft that occurred on Sunday afternoon. It was reported that between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. several items had been stolen from the front yard of the address. A 5 piece patio set, a guitar and a bike are among the items stolen. This remains under investigation. ST25018263
Warrant Arrest
A 37 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. Just before 6 a.m. this morning police were called to a park on the northside of the city to investigate the report of a suspicious person. Upon arrival, officers located the 37 year old known to them to be wanted by our service on an outstanding warrant for Failure to Comply with Release Order after failing to attend their court ordered probation program. The individual was processed and released on an appearance notice with a future court date. ST25018358
