Assault
A 16 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Thursday, the individual attended police headquarters to turn themselves in on an outstanding warrant for one count of Assault after being identified as the person responsible for causing injury to another teen in an altercation that was reported to police. The 16 year old was processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST25017021/16952
Assault Peace Officer
A 38 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged with two counts of Assault Peace Officers after we were called to an address on Talbot Street for an unwanted person. Upon arrival, the individual, known to be wanted by our service for Possession of Property Obtained by Crime stemming from an incident in August, was located. While attempting to affect the warrant arrest, the individual assaulted the attending officers. The 38 year old was transported to police headquarters, processed to attend court and was subsequently remanded into custody. ST25017023
Break and Enter Investigation
St. Thomas police are currently investigating a commercial break and enter. Just after 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, we were called to an address on Edward Street after the owner of a building under construction found damage to a door that appeared to have been pried open. While clearing the building, damage to the electrical panels and roof top air conditioning units was found. Through further investigation, officers found that approximately $10,000 of copper wiring had been stripped and removed. This remains remains under investigation. ST25017030
Warrant Arrests
A 42 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Thursday, officers on community patrol located the individual known to them to be wanted on an outstanding probation warrant, issued in August. The 42 year old was processed and released on an appearance notice with a future court date. ST25017024
A 39 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Thursday, while dealing with the individual on an unrelated matter, officers at the Elgin County Courthouse were made aware of an outstanding warrant for three counts of Failure to Comply with Probation stemming from separate incidents from April to July. The 39 year old was processed, appeared before the courts and was released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST25017038
A 38 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. Early this morning, while investigating the report of a suspicious person attempting to enter vehicles in the area of Hinks Street, officers located the individual known to them to be wanted by our service on an outstanding warrant for Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Theft under $5,000 and Failure to Comply with Probation after being charged on September 3rd. The 38 year old was transported to police headquarters, processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST25017083
Failure to Comply with Probation
A 48 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested after we were called in regards to an unwanted person. On Thursday, police attended an address on Myrtle Street and located the individual who was known to them to be on release conditions to not attend the address or associate with the person living there. As a result, the 48 year old was charged with three counts of Failure to Comply with Probation and transported to police headquarters, processed and release on an undertaking with a future court date. Fraud
St. Thomas police are currently investigating the report of unauthorized credit card purchases. On Thursday, police were contacted by a local resident who wished to report that they had been contacted by their credit card company who had flagged the transactions. The individual had lost their credit card several months while shopping and several fraudulent purchases have since been made. This remains under investigation. ST25017007
Theft
A purple and white Supercycle bike has been reported stolen from an address on Glanworth Avenue. On Thursday, the owner of the bike contacted police to report it had been stolen from their address at some point in the overnight hours. ST25017019
The rear axel of a bike has been reported stolen. On Thursday, we were contacted by the owner of the bike who wished to report that while it was locked to a bike rack at a retail store on Talbot Street, it had been damaged and the axel removed. The bike itself is described as a specialized Roubaix mountain bike valued at $4,500. This remains under investigation. ST25017056
A pink e-scooter has been reported stolen from an address on Burwell Road. On Thursday, we were called to the address to investigate the report of the scooter being stolen at some point overnight. A photo of the scooter can be seen below. ST25017004
