For Immediate Release
St. Thomas, ON – Thursday September 11th, 2025
At 7:36 a.m. this morning, the St. Thomas Police Service received a report of an armed individual inside a residence on Axford Parkway who was allegedly threatening to harm family members. Officers immediately responded, contained the area, and coordinated with local schools to reassure the public that there was no risk to community safety.
Officers conducted a thorough search of the residence, as well as a nearby home identified by the caller. Both properties were cleared, and it was confirmed that no threats were present and no one was in danger.
The investigation has since determined the report was unfounded and appears to have been a deliberate attempt to mislead police and provoke an emergency response. This type of false report, commonly referred to as “swatting,” diverts valuable emergency resources away from real incidents and creates unnecessary risk for both the public and first responders.
A charge of Public Mischief is pending as the investigation continues. The St. Thomas Police Service takes these incidents extremely seriously and will hold those responsible accountable to the fullest extent of the law.
