Impaired Refusal
A 37 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested after an alert citizen called to report a possible impaired driver. On Wednesday evening, we were contacted in regards to a vehicle that was unable to maintain their lane, crossing back and forth over the center line of the road and the gravel shoulder. The license plate and description of the vehicle was provided to police. The vehicle and its driver were located at a west end address. Through investigation, concerns the driver was impaired by alcohol were formed by officers. A roadside screening demand was issued however the 37 year old refused. As a result, the individual was charged with one count of Fail to Comply with Demand – Refusal. The vehicle was towed and their license was suspended. ST25015937
Stunt Driving
A 25 year old Kitchener resident has been charged after a traffic stop in the city early this morning. Just before 2 a.m. officers on community patrol observed the vehicle travelling at 119 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone. The 25 year old driver has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt, their vehicle towed and license suspended. ST25015952
Mischief
We are currently investigating the report of damage caused to a window of a childcare facility. On Wednesday September 3rd, we attended the area after staff noticed a window had been broken by what appeared to be a pellet. The damage occurred at some point in the overnight hours. CCTV in the area is being reviewed. This remains under investigation. ST25015899
Warrant Arrest
A 33 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Wednesday morning, officers on community patrol located the individual known to them to be wanted by our service for Theft under $5,000 stemming from an incident in August, where the 33 year old had been identified as the person responsible in a vehicle entry investigation. A search incident to arrest found the individual to be in possession of several break and enter tools. Through investigation, officers learned the individual is currently on release conditions to not possess such tools. As a result, the 33 year old was additionally charged with Failure to Comply with Release Order, processed at STPS Headquarters and remanded into custody. ST25015901/5948/5405
Attempt Break and Enter
We currently investigating the report of an attempt break and enter at a residential address on the northside of the city. On Wednesday morning, we were called to the address after the property owner reported finding damage to a vacant rental unit. Damage to the lower windows was observed by officers.
