Assault at North Side Apartment Building Leaves One Person in Hospital

The St. Thomas Police Service are investigating a serious assault that occurred on August 24, 2025, at a multi-unit residential building located on the north side of the city.

Police had learned through investigation that throughout the day, a tenant was displaying disruptive behaviour within the multi-unit building.  This resulted in another tenant requesting that the disruption end.  In response, the accused became assaultive.

An altercation occurred in the hallway of the building, during which the accused physically assaulted two individuals by pushing them down a flight of stairs.  Emergency medical services were called to the scene, and both victims were transported to hospital. Victim #1 sustained minor injuries and was treated and released from hospital. Victim #2 remains in hospital with serious injuries.

The accused was taken into custody at the scene and has been charged with the following offences:

  • Aggravated Assault
  • Assault x 2
  • Fail to comply with Probation x3

The 34 year old St. Thomas resident is currently being held in custody, with a court appearance pending.
