Theft, Shoplifting:
On Saturday morning staff at a south end business reported a female shopper had filled a cart with merchandise before leaving without paying. We attended and observed surveillance video where officers were able to identify the female suspect. A warrant package is being submitted for the 38-year-old St Thomas resident for theft under $5000. Officers were contacted to attend the public library where a local victim reported that they had attended and left their bicycle locked to the bike rack out front. An hour later they returned to find the bike stolen. The bike is described as a grey mountain bike with the word “caddoddle” down the side. We are waiting video to be provided by the library and the matter is under investigation. Intimate partner violence:
On Saturday afternoon a passerby called 911 in the south end of the city after observing a male assaulting a female in public view. Police attended and located the parties in question and observed some scratches on the female consistent with a statement provided by the caller. The 42-year-old male was arrested and resisted officers during the arrest. A search of the male once in custody revealed 9 grams of methamphetamine on his person. The male was charged with assault, breach of probation, resist arrest and possession of a controlled substance. The male was held for weekend video court. Incident ST25010655.
Warrant arrest:
On Saturday night we were contacted by the London Police Service who had a 34-year-old female in custody on a warrant held by our service for theft and breach of probation. Documents were sent to London Police Service who released the female on our behalf with a future court date. Incident ST2501678
Shoplift:
Saturday evening Police were called to an east end business for two separate reports of shoplifting.
Loss prevention reported that a male attended the store and stole an electric skateboard valued at $450.00. The male suspect is described as wearing a Chicago Blackhawks hat, a white/grey camo shirt, and white shoes. Video will be provided to Police and the matter is under investigation. Loss prevention also reported that a male and female had attended the store and took an air conditioner without paying. A licence plate was obtained for the vehicle operated by the couple and the matter is under investigation. Incident ST25010689.
Mischief:
Saturday night Police were contacted to attend a local church in the south end of the city for the report of two males throwing rocks and damaging property. Police attended and located two male youths on the property – who had thrown rocks and intentionally damaged glass windows, doors and other property at the church totaling and estimated $7000.00 to repair. Both youths were arrested and charged with mischief over $5000.00 and were later released to the care of their parents. Incident ST25010692.
