Andrew M. Bennett Scholarship Award – 2025 Recipient Announced

St. Thomas, ONThursday June 19th, 2025

Taliah Shaw, a graduate of St. Joseph’s Catholic High School has been named the 2025 recipient of the Andrew M. Bennett Scholarship Award.

The scholarship was established to support and encourage students who are preparing for careers dedicated to policing and the well-being of our communities. Individuals who choose this path carry immense responsibility—and they do so with courage, integrity, and an unwavering sense of service.

In her essay submission, Taliah wrote that she desires a career where “she not only could positively impact people’s lives, but where she could also contribute to making the world a more positive and safer place.”  Taliah further wrote that “she was raised and taught that giving back to the community is one of the most fulfilling and generous things that people can do”.

Congratulations, Taliah. On behalf of the St. Thomas Police Service and the Police Services Board, we are pleased to support your pursuit of a career in policing. We wish you every success and hope that you will find your university experience enriching and fulfilling.
