High School Violence
Two St. Thomas teens have been charged after police were called to investigate an incident that occurred at a local high school, last week. Through investigation, police learned the victim had sustained minor injuries after an altercation with the two teens following their gym class. As a result, a 15 year old St. Thomas resident and a 14 year old St. Thomas resident have both been charged with one count of Assault. ST25001146
Intimate Partner Violence
A 25 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Tuesday January 21st 2025, police were called to the 300 block of Talbot Street to investigate the report of an assault that had occurred. Through investigation, officers learned a verbal argument between a couple had escalated and turned physical. The victim had sustained minor injury and was transported to the hospital by EMS for medical treatment. As a result, the 25 year old St. Thomas resident was charged with one count of Assault and one count of Failure to Comply with Undertaking. The individual was arrested and transported to police headquarters. Through further investigation, officers learned of previous assault that had occurred between the victim and the accused, where injury was also sustained. The 25 year old was additionally charged with 3 counts of Failure to Comply with Undertaking, Utter Threats to Cause Death and Assault Cause Bodily Harm. They were processed on all charges and held for a morning court appearance. ST25001221
A 30 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Tuesday January 21st 2025, police were called to an address on the southside of the city after receiving information of a heated argument occurring outside of a residence. Upon arrival, officers learned a verbal argument between a couple had escalated and turned physical, resulting in the accused punching the victim several times and brandishing a knife during the altercation. The victim sustained minor injuries. As a result, the 30 year old St. Thomas resident was charged with one count of Assault with a Weapon and transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released with a future court date. Warrant Arrest
A 32 year old Woodstock resident has been arrested. On Tuesday January 21st 2025, STPS were notified by the OPP in Tillsonburg that they had the individual in custody on the strength of our outstanding warrant for Assault and Failure to Comply. Officers attended Tillsonburg and took custody of the individual who was transported to St. Thomas police headquarters where they were processed and held for a morning court appearance. ST25001235
A 32 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Tuesday January 21st 2025, officers at the Elgin County Courthouse were dealing with the individual on an unrelated matter when they became aware of an outstanding warrant for Theft and Fraud stemming from separate incidents in November and January. The 32 year old was processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST25001205
Mischief
A 46 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested after being identified as the individual responsible for stealing property from the door of an apartment and causing damage to the door. On Tuesday January 21st 2025, police were called to investigate the incident that occurred earlier that morning. Through investigation and review of available video, the 46 year old was identified and charged with one count of Mischief and one count of Theft under $5,000. Police located the 46 year old and transported them to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST25001199
