Assault Police

A 61 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested after police were called to the north side of the city, last night. At approximately 5:45 p.m. police were called to check on the well being on an individual after an argument between spouses had occurred. Upon arrival, both parties were calm and officers learned of verbal dispute between the two. Police stood by as one of the individuals gathered some belongings to leave for the evening when the accused became increasing agitated, threatening police and ultimately physically assaulting an officer. The 61 year old was arrested and charged with one count of Assault a Peace Officer and transported to police headquarters to be processed. No injuries were reported in relation to the assault and the 61 year old was released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST25000522

Warrant Arrest

A 32 year old Ajax resident has been arrested. On Thursday January 9th 2025, the individual attended police headquarters to turn themselves in on an outstanding warrant with our service for Fraud over $5,000 in relation to an investigation that began in September. At that time, a local business reported falling victim to an email scam resulting in the loss of approximately $140,000. The individual was processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST25000488/ST24015970

A 39 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Thursday January 9th 2025, officers on community patrol located the individual known to them to be wanted by our service on an outstanding warrant for Theft under $5,000 in relation to a shoplifting incident in December. The individual was transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST25000514

A 58 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Thursday January 9th 2025, officers on community patrol located the individual known to them to be wanted by our service for one count of Mischief, after being identified as the person responsible for causing damage at a downtown bank. The 58 year old was processed and released on an appearance notice. ST25000490

Arrest made in vehicle entry

A 29 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested after being identified as the person responsible for entering a vehicle and stealing approximately $5,000 in tools and property. On Thursday January 9th 2025, police were called to investigate the incident that occurred at some point in the overnight hours. Through investigation, officers learned an unknown individual attended an address on the west side of the city and gained access to the victim’s vehicle. Officers reviewed available video of the incident and identified the suspect. At approximately 12 noon, officers located and arrested a 29 year old St. Thomas resident who has been charged with Theft under $5,000. The individual was  released on an appearance notice with a future court date. ST25000502

Theft

Approximately $400 of clothing has been reported stolen from a retail store on Talbot Street. On Thursday January 9th 2025, police were called to investigate the report of two unknown individuals entering the store, selecting the clothing and failing to pay before leaving the area. Officers are reviewing available video as they continue to investigate. ST25000528

Investment Fraud

A local resident is out approximately $110,000 after an investment fraud. On Wednesday January 8th 2025, the victim contacted police to report that a company they had been using to manage their investment portfolio had become unable to be contacted and communication stopped. It was additionally reported that other investors using the same company were experiencing the same issue. This remains under investigation by STPS Criminal Investigation Branch. ST25000448
