A 33 year old Muncey – Delaware resident has been charged after police responded to a shoplifting incident in the city, yesterday.
At approximately 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday October 15th 2024, police were called to a retail store on Talbot Street to investigate the report of an unknown individual attending the store and failing to pay for two bottles of liquor before leaving the area.
At approximately 1:40 p.m. officers returned to the retail store after an employee called to alert police that the individual had returned.
Officers attended and located the suspect who was charged with Theft under $5,000 and transported to police headquarters to be processed.
While in custody, the 33 year old became combative and assaulted two officers. No injuries were sustained.
As a result, the 33 year old has been additionally charged with two counts of Assault Peace Officer.
The individual was processed and remanded into custody. ST24018622
