Attempt vehicle theft/Warrants/ MVC vs Pedestrian/ Break and Enter/ Assault

Attempted Motor Vehicle Theft 

St. Thomas police are currently investigating the attempted theft of motor vehicle. On Thursday October 10th 2024, police were called to an address on the southside of the city by a vehicle owner. It was reported that unknown suspect(s) attempted to steal their vehicle.  Entry was gained and suspect(s) were successful in starting the vehicle.  However the vehicle was driven onto a rock where the suspect(s) fled on foot. The St. Thomas Police K9 unit attended, however it was believed the suspects fled to a near-by waiting vehicle.  ST24018309

Warrant Arrests 

On Thursday October 10th 2024, a 38 year old St. Thomas resident was arrested, after they turned themselves into the police station.  Officers transported the person to the Wellington Street court house where they were held for a bail hearing. ST24018180

Also, a 40 year old St. Thomas resident was arrested on an outstanding warrant for Assault, Uttering Threats, Resist Arrest and Assault a Peace Officer.  They too were transported to the Wellington Street court house where they were held for a bail hearing.  ST24018197.

MVC vs Pedestrian

St. Thomas police responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in the morning of Thursday October 10th, 2024.  The accident occurred at the east end of Wellington Street, near the Elgin Mall.  A pedestrian was struck while using a crosswalk and subsequently transported to London Health Science Centre via ambulance.  The injured pedestrian was later released from hospital after suffering a concussion and receiving stitches to their forehead as a result of the incident. The driver was charged with Careless Driving- causing bodily harm under the Highway Traffic Act. ST24018318

Break and Enter

St. Thomas police are currently investigating a break and enter into a fenced compound where various items were stolen.  On Thursday October 10th, police responded to the 200 Block of Edward Street where suspect(s) entered through a fenced area then proceeded to steal items stored within the compound. It is estimated between $8000-$10,000 worth of items were stolen.  Anyone with information in regard to this incident are asked to call the St. Thomas Police Service at (519) 631-1224 OR call Crimes Stoppers (800)222- TIPS (8477).  ST24018322

Arson

On Thursday October 10th, 2024, the St. Thomas Fire Department and police responded to a fire at the CN Rail yard.  Suspect(s) set fire to a pile of railroad ties deliberately.  The fire was extinguished by the fire department and the CN police will continue to investigate this matter. ST24018329

Assault

A 23 year old St. Thomas resident was charged with assault.  On Thursday October 10th, police responded to an assault, where the victim reported being approached by the accused and slapped.  The accused was released with a future court date.  ST24018364
