Media Release Tuesday October 1st 2024

Impaired Operation 

A 57 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested after police were notified of a possible impaired driver. On Monday September 30th 2024, police were called in regards to an individual believed to have left an area in the city in their vehicle after they had been drinking. A description of the vehicle and its driver were provided to police who located the accused in the area of St. Catherines Street. Through investigation, officers formed grounds that the driver was impaired by alcohol and an alcohol screening device was administered roadside, resulting in a fail. The 57 year old was arrested and transported to police headquarters where further testing concluded the driver to be over the legal limit. The individual was charged with Operation while Impaired plus 80. While in custody at police headquarters, police were made aware of an altercation that took place prior to the impaired driving report. Through investigation, it was learned the 57 year old had physically assaulted an individual. As as result, the individual was additionally charged with one count of Assault, processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24017626/7629

Intimate Partner Violence 

A 16 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged with Assault and Mischief after an altercation was reported to police. On Monday September 30th 2024, the victim attended police headquarters to report being assaulted. Through investigation officers learned the individual had been physically assaulted and had their property damaged by the accused. A warrant for arrest has been requested. ST24017645

RIDE 

St. Thomas police are pleased to announce that no infractions or concerns were reported after a RIDE program in the city, last night. STPS wished to thank the community for continuing to drive safe and sober. ST24017681

Warrant Arrests

A 19 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Sunday September 29th 2024, the individual attended police headquarters to turn themselves in on an outstanding warrant with our service for Theft under $5,000 after being identified as the person responsible in a shoplifting investigation from June. The 19 year old was processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24017381

A 31 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On September 27th 2024, officers on community patrol located the individual known to them to be wanted by our service on an outstanding warrant for Breach of Probation. The individual was processed and released on an appearance notice. ST24017427

A 33 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Tuesday October 1st 2024, police were called to an address on Talbot Street in regard to an unwanted person. Upon arrival, officers located an individual known to them to be wanted by our service on an outstanding warrant for Failure to Comply with Probation, Disobey Court Order and Breach of Recognizance. The individual was transported to police headquarters where they were processed and held for a morning court appearance. ST24017682

Theft

St. Thomas police are currently investigating the report of a stolen bike. On Thursday September 26th 2024, officers were called to the 700 block of Talbot Street after a red mountain bike was reported stolen from a bike rack. Police are reviewing available CCTV in the area as they continue to investigate. ST24017399

Recovered Stolen Vehicle 

A vehicle that was reported stolen on Thursday September 26th, has been recovered by the Aylmer Police Service. On Friday September 27th 2024, STPS were contacted by APS who had located the vehicle abandoned at an address in Aylmer. St. Thomas police notified the owner who attended to retrieve their vehicle. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime 

A 41 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Monday September 30th 2024, police were called in regard to an unwanted person at an address on Alexandria Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located the 41 year old who was known to them to be wanted by our service for Possession of Property Obtained by Crime after being identified as the person responsible in a break and enter investigation. The St. Thomas resident was arrested and transported to police headquarters where they processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24017616
