Robbery Investigation 

St. Thomas police are currently investigating the report of a robbery. On Monday September 23rd 2024, a St. Thomas resident attended police headquarters to report an incident that occurred in the downtown core, the night previous. It was reported that the victim sustained minor injuries after being hit in the head with an unknown object before having their belongings, including a backpack stolen from them. STPS are reviewing CCTV in the reported area of the incident as they continue to investigate. ST24017126

Fail to Stop

On Tuesday September 24th 2024, officers attempted to stop a U-Haul to conduct a traffic stop after a highway traffic act violation was observed. The officer activated their emergency lights to notify and indicate to the driver of the U-Haul to stop. The driver failed to stop and continued at a high rate of speed outside of the city limit. Due to unsafe road conditions at the time and a concern for public safety, the traffic stop was discontinued. Neighbouring police services were notified. ST24017215

Failure to Comply 

A 39 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged. On Tuesday September 24th 2024, STPS were notified that the individual had failed to report to probation as per their recent release conditions. As a result, the 39 year old has been charged with one count of Failure to Comply. A warrant for arrest has been requested. ST24017221

Warrant Arrests

A 44 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Tuesday September 24th 2024, officers on community patrol located the individual known to them to be wanted on an outstanding warrant with our service for two counts of Fraud under $5,000 and two counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime stemming from a fraud investigation in 2023. The 44 year old was transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24017233/ST23015806

A 23 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Tuesday September 24th 2024, officers on community patrol located the individual known to them to be wanted on an outstanding warrant with our service for Mischief, dating back to an investigation from 2020. The 23 year old was transported to police headquarters where they were processed and held for a morning court appearance. ST24017234

Breach of Probation

A 31 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged with Breach of Probation. On Tuesday September 24th 2024, officers were called to 1063 Talbot Street for the report of an unwanted person. Upon arrival, police located an individual known to them to be on conditions to not attended the entirety of the 1063 Talbot Street retail area. As a result, the 31 year old was charged with Breach of Probation and released on an appearance notice. ST24017255

Theft / Traffic Offences 

A 37 year old Southwold resident has been charged following a theft investigation. On Wednesday September 25th 2024, officers called to a gas station on Talbot Street to investigate the report of a gas drive off. Police reviewed the available on site video surveillance and through investigation, confirmed the identity of the individual who had, in addition the theft of gas, altered their license plate in an effort to evade police. As a result, the 37 year old has been charged with Theft Under $5,000, two counts of Driving while Under Suspension and two counts of Deface plate. A warrant for arrest has been requested.
