Impaired Operation – Public Mischief – A 38 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged
At approximately 12:27 p.m. on Wednesday August 14th, St. Thomas Police received a 911 call from the driver of a vehicle that had sustained damage to a tire in the area of Southdale Line and Fairview Avenue. The driver reported that their child, a 6 year old, had wandered away from the area while they were attempting to repair their vehicle.
St. Thomas Police with the assistance of Elgin OPP, initiated a missing person investigation which was resolved at approximately 1:37 p.m. when the child was located safe, at park near their residence.
During the course of the investigation and in conversation with the driver, it was determined that the child was not with their parent when the 911 call was received. Additionally, while interacting with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment, leading to the driver’s arrest.
The individual has been charged with one count of Operation while Impaired and one count of Obstruct Police.
The 38 year old was transported to police headquarters, processed and released on an appearance notice. ST24014279
