Impaired operation, collision leads to arrest

A 24 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged with impaired driving after police were called to a motor vehicle collision on Wednesday afternoon.  Just before 3:30 p.m. on May 29th 2024, police responded to a motor vehicle collision on Manitoba Street at Kains Street. Upon arrival, officers learned the driver of one of the vehicles had failed to stop at a stop sign, proceeding into oncoming traffic. The driver was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where it was determined they were 3 times over the legal limit.  Subsequently, the St. Thomas resident has been charged with one count Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Operation while Impaired (80 plus). The 24 year old was processed and released on an appearance notice. No injuries were reported as a result of the collision. ST24008866

Impaired refusal 

A 79 year London resident has been charged with one count of Refusal to Comply with Demand after police responded to the report of a possible impaired driver. At approximately 1:30 a.m. on Thursday May 30th 2024, a vehicle matching the description given to police, was located at a Talbot Street address.  While speaking with the driver, officers suspected they had been consuming alcohol and demanded the driver submit to a roadside screening however, the 79 year old refused.  As a result, the individual was arrested and transported to police headquarters where they were processed. While being processed, STPS became aware of an outstanding warrant held by London Police. LPS was notified and attended STPS HQ to take custody of the individual. ST24008899

Narcan administered

On Wednesday May 29th 2024 while on community patrol, police located an unresponsive individual. Responding officers quickly and successfully administer 3 rounds of Narcan. EMS attended and transported the individual to the hospital as a precaution. ST24008846

Warrant arrest

A 32 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Wednesday May 29th 2024, officers on community patrol located the individual known to them to be wanted on an outstanding warrant with our service for Theft under $5,000 and 3 counts of Failure to Comply with Probation stemming from an incident on May 25th. The 32 year old was transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24008889

Failure to Comply

A 32 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged. On Tuesday May 28th 2024, STPS were contacted in regards to the individual failing to attended court ordered appointments with their probation officer. As a result, a warrant for arrest has been issued for Failure to Comply with Release Conditions. ST24008777

A 30 year old London resident has been charged. On Wednesday May 29th 2024, police were called to a northside address for the report of an unwanted person. Upon arrival, police located the individual known to them to be on conditions to not attended the address of the call. As a result, the 30 year old was charged with one count of Failure to Comply with Undertaking and transported to police headquarters to be processed. The individual was released with a future court date. ST24008835

Theft

A 20 year old Mississauga resident has been spoken to by police after the report of stolen appliances. On Tuesday May 28th 2024, police were called to the industrial area of the city to investigate the report of an unknown person attending the disposal area of a business and removing the discarded appliances. Through investigation police learned the appliances were of no value however, the individual did not have permission to remove them.  Police spoke with the individual responsible and advised them of complaint and potential charges. Approximately $112 of merchandise has been reported stolen from a retail store on Talbot Street. On Wednesday May 29th 2024, STPS were called to the store to investigate a shoplifting incident. It was reported that an unknown person had failed to pay for shoes, makeup and jewelry. Police are reviewing available video surveillance as they continue to investigate. ST24008857

A 28 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged. On Wednesday May 29th 2024, police were contacted by the owner of a retail store on Talbot Street who wished to report a theft that had occurred. Officers reviewed the available video surveillance of the incident and as a result have charged a 28 year old St. Thomas resident with Theft under $5,000. A warrant for arrest has been requested. Residential break and enter

St. Thomas police are currently investigating a residential break and enter that occurred sometime after May 20th, 2024. Through investigation, officers learned an apartment had been entered while the tenant was away. A purse has been reported stolen with several fraudulent transactions posted to the victims credit card and from their bank accounts. This remains under investigation by the STPS Property Crime Unit.
