Assault Peace officer / Resist arrest
On March 13, 2024 police encountered 31 year old Michael Cooney who was wanted on outstanding warrants. When approached by police, Cooney attempted to run and became combative during arrest. Both officers attempting to arrest Cooney were assaulted during this incident. Cooney was subsequently brought before the court in relation to the outstanding warrant and new charges for assaulting peace officers and resisting arrest. When Cooney was remanded into custody, he again became violent and combative, assaulting a court officer.
