Warrant arrest
A 64 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Thursday March 7th 2024. officers attended the London International Airport to arrest the individual on an outstanding warrant with our service for Assault with a Weapon stemming from an incident in February of 2023. The 64 year old was transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24003692/ST23002338
Fire investigation
St. Thomas police are currently investigating ongoing fires being set near the CN Rail yard in the area of Flora and Barwick Street. On March 7th 2024, just after 9 p.m. police were called to the area by CN employees who reported a brush fire on the property. STPS are continuing to investigate. Failure to comply
A 17 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Thursday March 7th 2024, St. Thomas police were notified that the youth was violating a curfew put in place as a conditions of their release. Officers located the individual and transported them to police headquarters where they were charged with one count Failure to Comply with Release order and two counts Fail to Comply with Sentence. The 17 year old was processed on the charges and held for a morning court appearance. ST24003710
A 49 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Thursday March 7th 2024, the individual attended police headquarters to turn themselves in on an outstanding warrant with our service for one count Failure to Comply with undertaking. Protecting yourself from fraud
In an ongoing effort to help protect the residents of St. Thomas from falling victim to online scams and fraud, the St. Thomas Police Service would like to remind the community on ways to protect themselves and things to consider while online:
- Always get a second opinion from family or friends regarding the situation
- Always verify the person you are corresponding with is legitimate
- No employer will reach out to you through apps like Whats App
- If you receive a call from someone claiming to be a family member or relative, hang up and call the number you have for them.
- No employer will ask you to invest your own money or purchase gift cards.
- Use the Canadian Anti- Fraud Centre as a resource to familiarize yourself with current scams and additional ways to protect yourself
And remember if it seems suspicious, it likely is.
