Impaired operation
A 40 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Sunday January 14th 2024, officers were contacted by a gas station attendant who wish to report an unknown individual was causing a disturbance in the retail store of the location. Upon arrival, officers located the individual exhibiting signs of impairment. The 40 year old St. Thomas resident was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for a drug recognition evaluation which confirmed the individual to be impaired by drug. As as result, the St. Thomas resident was charged with one count of Impaired Operation and one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance. The 40 year old was processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24000672
Failure to comply
A 48 year old St. Thomas resident has been remanded into custody after St. Thomas Police Service received information that the ankle monitoring device assigned to the individual as per their release conditi0ns, had been cut off. Officers located the individual at a residence that they are on conditions to not attend. The 48 year old was arrested and charged with 5 counts of Failure to Comply with Release Order and 3 counts Failure to Comply with Probation Order. ST24000625
Assault
A 30 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested and charged with Assault. On Saturday January 13th 2024, just before midnight police received a call from a local transportation company regarding a driver that had been assaulted in the north end of the city. Police attended and learned the driver had been punched several times before the suspect fled. A 30 year old St. Thomas resident was located a short distance away, arrested and transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. Mischief
St. Thomas police are currently investigating an incident of mischief. On Saturday January 13th 2024, officers were called to an address on the southside of the city to investigate the report of a smashed window. Upon arrival, police learned an unknown person attended the area and broke a window of a home with a rock. This remains under investigation. ST24000591
Warrant arrests
A 34 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Saturday January 13th 2024, the individual attended police headquarters to turn themselves in on an outstanding warrant with our service for Breach of Probation. The 34 year old was processed and release on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24000606
A 36 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Sunday January 14th 2024, while on an unrelated call for service, officers located the individual known to them to be wanted on an outstanding warrant with our service stemming from a theft investigation in 2023. The 36 year old was arrested and transported to police headquarters where they were processed on the charges, attended court and later released by the courts with a future court date. While at the same call for service, officers located a 36 year old St. Thomas resident who was known to police to be wanted on an outstanding warrant with our service in relation to an ongoing fraud investigation. The individual was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters to be processed for Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Fraud over $5,000 and Identity Theft. While being processed, officers became aware of an outstanding warrant with Oxford OPP. Once processed on the charges in St. Thomas, the 36 year old was transferred to OPP custody. A 41 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Sunday January 14th 2024, Elgin OPP notified STPS of having the individual in custody on the strength of our warrant stemming from an incident in December of 2023 and the use of counterfeit money. The individual was transferred to St. Thomas police headquarters where they were processed and held for a morning court appearance. ST24000673
Theft
A gaming system valued at approximately $779 has been reported stolen. On Friday January 12th 2024, police were contacted by a local resident who wished to report a Facebook marketplace transaction that resulted in a theft. Through investigation officers learned that the victim was selling their gaming system online. After an agreed upon meet up and exchange, the unknown parties took possession of the item and left, failing to process the electronic payment. This remains under investigation. ST24000557
A 39 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested after being identified as the party responsible for a theft that occurred at a Talbot Street retail store on Friday. Officers located the individual while on an unrelated call for service at a restaurant on Talbot Street, Sunday afternoon. The 39 year old was arrested and transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an appearance notice with a future court date. ST24000576/0652
St. Thomas police are currently investigating the theft of a license plate. On Saturday January 13th 2024, officers were called by the vehicle owner who wish to report the rear plate of their vehicle had been stolen. Video surveillance of the incident is being reviewed as police continue to investigate. ST24000603
A 29 year old London resident is wanted by STPS after being identified as the person responsible for a theft that occurred at retail store on Talbot Street. On Saturday January 13th 2024, officers were called by store staff who wish to report an unknown person entered the store, shopped for various items before leaving the store without paying. Officers reviewed the in store surveillance and positively identified the individual. As a result, the 29 year old London resident has been charged with Theft under $5,000.
